One Day

SF: This film was painful from start to finish. One cliche after another. I didn't really like any of the characters, the plot went nowhere, you could predict every scene. One depressing long unending excerise in tedium. 3/10

DonkeyB: Oh the fonts the fonts. Never mix script and sans serif, and never never never make them overlap each other in the title sequence of your film. Just pitiful as a film really relly annoying from start to finish. 3/10

The Guard

SF: Hilarious, giggled to myself from the very start and just kept going. Madness but brilliance in one. The script is excellent, witty and dark. I haven't seen a film this good in months. If you are looking for something original and off beat don't miss this. Brendan Gleeson delivers an outstanding performance 8.5/10

50 Eggs: Fun movie, lovely dark humour. An above average British film. 8/10

DonkeyB: Laugh out loud funny, cantankerous elderly audience which created a suitable atmosphere. 8/10

The Inbetweeners

SF: Predictable, harmless fun. A few cringe worthy "oh I can't look" moments for good measure. Kept the same quirky humour of the series. 6.5/10

50 Eggs: Consistently hilarious. Predictable but it didn't matter. It's worth the admission price for the 'dancing' scene alone. 9/10

DonkeyB: Funny, funny, funny. [Hint in comedy reviews count the funnies for a hint of the mark to come] Next time I will take a laughter track, or watch it with more than one other live person. 9/10

Cowboys & Aliens

SF: So much potential but the plot was weak, it's potential didn't amount to anything and I was bored by the end. 5/10

50 Eggs: Didn't expect much and wasn't disappointed. Passed the time then passed out of my memory. 5/10

Conan

SF: Love the opening 20 mins but it all went downhill once the damsel in distress appeared, sadly unsatisfying. 4/10

50 Eggs: 10 minutes in 'this is great', 40 minutes in 'this is trash'. I don't remember past the hour as I had fallen asleep. 4/10

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

SF: Andy Serkis you are amazing. I almost forgot it was CGI. Plot was coherent and at times insightful. If anything an improvement on the original films. 7/10

50 Eggs: Excellent. A surprisingly plausible story, terrific monkeys, and a nice set up for the sequel. 9/10

DonkeyB: Good, better than original(s). Inverse quality to the trailer. 8/10

Devil's Double

SF: I didn't know what to expect but was really impressed. deeply intelligent, awesome acting, brilliantly executed. 7/10

DonkeyB: Gripping, scary, superb central performance(s). 7.5/10

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

SF: Adventure films are right up my street, having seen the first movie and rather enjoyed it I was looking froward to the sequel. Pleased to say this doesn't disappoint. Right amount of imagination, fun and of course adventure. 6.5/10

50 Eggs: Silly fun. There are a tonne of plot holes and implausibilities but this is squarely aimed at kids so I wont be too harsh. And while it probably doesn't deserve more than 5/10, it does have a scene where The Rock sings 'What a Wonderful World' around a campfire, so I cant possibly give it less than 6.5/10.

Super 8

SF: Had that 80s feel like ET meets Stand By Me. Tad longer than you'd like though I never lost interest. 7/10

50 Eggs: A very cosy watch that harks back to an age of innocence. I thought the ending was rushed but up to that point it was faultless. 8/10

DonkeyB: Really liked the start and the end, middle too long. 7/10
