Horrible Bosses 2

SF: I thought the first installment of this film was fairly mediocre but there were enough funny bits to make it bearable. The sequel doesn't even come close. Those wishing to see Jennifer Aniston and under wear won't be disappointed but that would be the only reason I can think of to bother with this dull sequel. The story doesn't hold you attention, the jokes are predicable and I can't recall one but I really laughed at. I won't even bother mentioning the performances because there really is nothing to see here

Monsters University

SF: Pixar set a high bar, so with a sequel there are a lot of expectations. having said that I enjoyed this as much as Monsters inc which is the most praise I can give. Great sense of humour, amazing animation, fun plot - everything you would want. Charlie Day surprised me, excellent voice to monster matching. Look out for all the little in jokes. Go enjoy yourselves 8/10

DonkeyB: Disappointing. At their best Pixar make beautiful films, with strong traditional stories which somehow still manage to surpise. Unfotunately, this lacks much of the charm of the original and is a basic Campus comedy of which we have all seen quite alot. It is essentially exactly the same film as Pitch Perfect but nothing like as funny. I'm sure the kids will love it, but it has much less for the adults than some of Pixar's best efforts. 5/10

Pacific Rim

SF: Godzillas v Steel. If you like any of the following, Power Rangers, Godzilla, Clash/Wrath of the Titans, Transformers, Real Steel, Gundam and Guyver, you will love this. So naturally I thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent special effects, fights on a crazy scale, enough plot and script to hold it together but not enough to ruin pace or bore you. The last thing anyone wants with something like this is too much explanation (see Transformer 2 & 3). A nice amount of cheesy humour and yes you can predict the ending but that's fine with me. Delivers everything you'd expect, don't take it too seriously. 7/10

50Eggs: There were several moments of the script that were so bad that I wondered if it was in fact a Paul Verhoeven style satire. But no, its just bad. What is good, and the reason for my reasonable score, is the action and effects. The first few Robot v Monster scenes are stunning, and the creature design is outstanding - I couldn't wait to see what monster they would come up with next. But even on this front I have to end with a gripe: the film is constantly building up to a huge battle royale finish, but the specific setting for the final fight means the epic scale evident in earlier scenes is completely lost. And so, a mediocre 5/10

DonkeyB: Refused to watch.

Project Jen- Horrible Bosses

So here we are: Horrible Bosses (extended cut) is on the Blue Ray. Pervert followers of Project Jen are hoping this means we get to see more of Jennifer in her lingerie, you don't. Instead you get longer scenes of "witty banter", including bonus homophobia from one of the horrible bosses.

I've seen Horrible Bosses before, in the cinema, and the problem with the film is that it just isn't funny enough, the other problem is, nothing on earth about Jennifer's character in the film would make anyone in the audience even consider having sex with her. Jennifer Aniston cannot do predatory sexy; she is abominably miscast, the role is outside her range- Mila Kunis would have killed in this part.

Here's the thing: Jennifer Aniston is not sexy. Her entire career, her oevre if you will, is the ridiculously pretty (for real life) girl next door. That is her schtick. It's attractive, but the reason she is popular is because she seems nice.

The second viewing confirms all my memories, if anything it's even less funny than I remember. I can't really summon the energy to write very much about the film.

Jennifer gets a "with" credit for the film, she isn't in it very much and when she is its not funny or sexy. The joke is that she is very explicitly trying to seduce her assistant, who finds this uncomfortable because he is happily engaged. I think the funny thing is supposed to be that as men we are all supposed to think "oh I wish I was him, it's Jennifer Aniston, she's hot, I wish she was talking dirty to me and groping me.", but the guy in the film is thinking about having her assassinated because he is so uncomfortable. It doesn't work because she can't pull it off (so to speak).

It is still better than Marley and Me though.

SF: Mildly entertaining. Not as funny as it should of been but certainly has a few surprises that come out of nowhere as the film is soo mediocre. Unlike Donkey I thought Jennifer was rather hot in this. 5/10

50 Eggs: Made me laugh out loud which is quite unusual in the cinema. A stellar, virtuoso performance from Jennifer Aniston as the nimphomaniac dentist. 8/10

DonkeyB: Disappointing, Aniston not convincing as sex crazed, surprisingly unsexy in the lingerie too. Look out for my series of reviews Blue Donkey watches Jennifer Aniston, in which I review every Jennifer Aniston film (properly not like this one line balony). 5/10
